Frequently asked questions

Is membership free?

Yes, completely free. No fees or subscriptions.

Is there an age requirement?

We aim for stutdents from high school to university.

However, we welcome students at any age, however applicants under 14 or still in middle school are considered on a case-by-case basis with more thorough review. If you've already graduated university, you're still welcome to apply - though we'd also encourage you to consider our mentor track If you have relevant academic or professional experience.

Is the application process competitive?

General membership is reviewed but we're not looking to reject people: we're looking for students who are genuinely engaged and can contribute meaningfully. Fellow roles, where you actively contribute to Society output in research and publications, are more selective and based on demonstrated experience and commitment, and you get there through membership first, not directly.

Do I get anything official?

Yes, a signed Certificate of Membership mailed to your address, and a detailed participation log over time that you can present to universities or other programs.

What happens after I apply?

Your application is reviewed by the Admissions Committee and division leads. Applications are in rolling basis and you should hear back in less than 3 weeks once reviewed.
